Why We Brew
Community. We strive to brew beer not only for our neighbors, but with our neighbors. We aim to source local ingredients as often as possible and actively work with and support our fellow North Carolina brewers. Conquering the beer world is not our intention; brewing the best beer for the local community is our number one priority. Don’t take our word for it, go ahead and taste our story for yourself. Cheers.
What We Strive For
Tobacco Road Brewing opened its doors in the historic powerhouse building in December of 2016 and officially started brewing in 2017. Being in the heart of craft beer country, we couldn’t resist being a part of this exciting and booming industry. Our brewery location crafts top of the line beer, using local ingredients as often as we can, whether that comes from our local malt company, fruit from farmer’s markets and local chocolate and coffee businesses.
About Chris Atkins, Head Brewer
Before joining us at Tobacco Road Brewing, Chris studied at The Siebel Institute in Chicago, and later in Doemens Academy in Munich, Germany. He completed an International Diploma in Brewing program before returning to the United States, where he put those skills to the test for the next six years at Top of the Hill Restaurant and Brewery, four years which were spent as the co-head brewer. Chris’ international and local craft beer knowledge brings a unique perspective to Tobacco Road Brewing, and we’re confident you’ll taste that in his beers.
